Neil’s love of radio started as a kid, listening to the pirate ships on a transistor radio bought by his parents (which he still has) just mention Radio Caroline or Radio London and his eyes still light up (he may even play you his collection of pirate jingles)
Before moving into radio Neil started out as a mobile DJ with his brother at the age of twelve, while his brother grew up and got a proper job, Neil didn’t… he carried on gigging and to this day is out most weekends.
Neil’s first broadcasts were on Orsett hospital radio where he was fortunate to have a brilliant station manager who installed the presenting skills that he still uses today.
Neil then went on to station manage and launch his own RSL radio stations, ‘Sunshine/Sea Rock which was based at the end of Southend Pier and Supernova Radio which broadcast from Canvey Island, it was from here he was poached by Capital Radio where he worked with a couple of his radio hero’s Alan Freeman and Tony Blackburn. Neil’s voice was the first to be heard on the Capital Gold network and he remained on the station for fifteen years eventually landing the role of breakfast host which was a dream come true for Neil.
